7 reasons & solutions: Why is my phone battery draining so fast?

One of the most annoying things for smartphone users is that the mobile battery gets exhausted very quickly. Again, even if the mobile is switched off or not used for some time, the charge runs out or decreases. But why does this happen? Why is there no charge on the mobile phone?
In today's article, I will discuss seven significant reasons for mobile batteries draining fast and some ways to increase mobile battery life.

Some tips to keep the mobile battery in good condition

If you follow some simple rules while using the mobile in your daily life, the mobile battery will be like brand new. As a result, you will get much better battery backup from it. Some tips related to this are:

  • Keep Auto Brightness on and screen off time to 15 seconds.
  • Enable battery optimization mode.
  • Switch to dark mode.
  • Using eye comfort mode or reading mode
  • Do not use mobile if the charge is below 20 percent.
  • Charging with the original mobile charger
  • If not required, keep the optional settings like location, Bluetooth, mobile data, etc. off.

Why is my phone battery draining so fast?

Often we notice that the charge is draining very quickly while using the mobile, especially while streaming videos. Also, if the mobile is older, it is often seen that the mobile turns itself off when the charge is below 20%. Following are some of the significant reasons behind why the mobile charge gets depleted very quickly:

1. Using mobile data

I don't know if you have noticed it or not, but using mobile data decreases the battery charge of the mobile phone at an impossible rate, and it is proven. The main reason for this is that the network IC of the mobile then starts working at a high rate, due to which it has to consume a lot of battery. As a result, the mobile gets very hot.

2. Always keep WIFI on

WiFi users almost always keep their mobile WiFi on, even when they go out of home. This is one of the battery killer habits. Because of this, your mobile device is always trying to connect to different routers around you, which consumes a lot of battery.

3. Multi-tasking excessively

Every mobile user multitasks more or less, which is very common. But not clearing apps running in the background is a bad habit. This causes apps to run in the background and drain your phone's battery. If the apps running in the background are internet-demanding like Facebook or YouTube, then the mobile battery tends to run out quickly.

4. Not optimizing the display

Most mobile users want to keep their displays attractive, and because of this, they get relatively less battery backup. Many people keep the mobile display brightness at maximum, use colorful wallpapers or different live wallpapers, keep the display touch frequency at maximum, etc. settings that are very battery demanding.

As smartphone displays are very large, a major part of the battery is consumed to keep the display on and in use. Hence, additional display customization is responsible for excessive battery consumption.

5. Excessive Notification

Many social media sites, including Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter, are used by almost everyone as a means of daily entertainment. These many unnecessary notifications are constantly coming to our mobiles and reducing the battery backup a lot.

6. Keeping Location on

Many people unnecessarily keep the location option on all the time or keep all mobile apps with location access. As a result, the location option of the mobile device is always running in the background, and without your knowledge, the battery backup of your mobile is greatly reduced.

7. Battery calibration is not correct

You may be new to battery calibration. At the very top of the mobile screen, the percentage of charge on the mobile can be seen. Now, if your mobile battery is calibrated, or if the battery calibration is correct, the percentage charge will show the exact amount of charge in your mobile battery. If the battery calibration is lost, the percentage of charge will also be reversed.

Mainly because this calibration is lost, your mobile device turns off even after your battery has 20 to 30% charge. Because then there is a real charge on the mobile, but it shows something else.

How do I understand that the mobile battery calibration is not correct?

Let's explain with an example. Think your mobile had 90% charge. But even after using it for hours, the mobile charge did not decrease; it showed only 90%. Then suddenly the mobile stopped. When you charge the mobile while it is off, it shows 10%, but when you turn the mobile on, it shows 90% again. This means you have to understand that the calibration of your mobile battery is not correct.

Basically, if your mobile suddenly turns off after showing a charging percentage that shows enough charge and the same problem occurs again and again, then you need to understand that your mobile battery is not calibrated.

Ways to prevent mobile battery drain

You may be able to guess from the above reasons what you should do to get more mobile battery backup. At the beginning, I also gave some tips. However, I will now talk about some important things that, if followed, will greatly increase the battery life of your phone.

1. Turn on Auto Brightness

This is a common solution, but it is really very effective. For many people, turning on automatic brightness is a nuisance. Because of this, the brightness of the mobile keeps increasing and decreasing. But keeping the auto brightness on will reduce and increase the brightness of the mobile depending on the environment around you, thus consuming much less battery.

Also, try as much as possible to keep the screen on time of the mobile device to a minimum, keep the eye comfort mode on, and try to keep the refresh rate of the mobile display to a minimum. By doing this, you will definitely notice a lot of positive changes in the battery backup of the mobile.

2. Calibrate the battery

If your mobile is very old, then the whole battery may need to be replaced. However, you can adjust the battery calibration yourself. By following the rules and maintaining the time, you have to restart the mobile several times (a software update may also be required for special needs), which is a very complicated task.

Calibrate the battery

So you should go to a good service center and get the mobile battery calibrated properly. It will be better if you can replace the entire battery of the mobile device if necessary.

3. Not enabling optional settings such as WIFI, Bluetooth etc. without special need

It is common to use WiFi while at home or in the office, but turning off WiFi while outside is very effective to save mobile battery. Try to turn off the WiFi option after a certain period of time.

Again, when using mobile data, try to use less mobile data in areas where the network condition is very bad. Try to enable 3-G from the settings option. Because if your mobile device is 4-G or 5-G compatible, it will repeatedly try to connect but cannot, resulting in excessive battery consumption.

Also, don't enable unnecessary settings like Bluetooth, location, hotspot, screencast, etc. unless specifically required.

4. Refrain from unnecessary use of Power-bank

A power bank is a very useful device, especially when going somewhere far away where there is no alternative for charging the mobile. But nowadays, people are using it unnecessarily, even at home, to charge their mobile phones with power banks.

To tell the truth, no matter how good the power bank is, charging the mobile phone with it reduces the battery life of the mobile phone. So avoid using a power bank without special need and try to charge with the original charger of your mobile.

5. Uninstall unnecessary apps

We needlessly install many bad apps on our mobiles. One of them is Shareit; this app runs in the background of our mobiles and consumes the mobile battery by doing various activities. Also, we install many unnecessary apps, including various mobile cooling apps, wallpaper applications, and phone boosters, which cause extreme damage to mobile battery life.

So, avoid installing apps unnecessarily, and check if there is any unnecessary app running in the background from the settings option of your mobile; uninstall it.

Conclusion

Almost all smartphones these days are launched with 4 to 5 thousand mAh batteries. Even then, our mobile phones do not have charge or run out of charge very soon. Basically, some of our bad habits or mistakes work behind the scenes. I have talked about them as well as given solutions to them. I also talked about the mobile battery calibration problem. I hope the article will be useful to you. Thanks!
